Ingredients
Idli Rice (Idli ponni rice) / Raw rice – 2cups
Whole urad – ½ cup
Tur dal – ½ cup
Water – ¾ cup
Salt to taste
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Shallots – 15 no’s
Asafetida – ¼ tsp
Dried red chillies – 4
Black peppercorns – 10 no’s
Gingelly oil
Preparation
Soak rice, urad dal and gram dal together, then grind it with salt and water and make a thick batter. Crush curry leaves, shallots, pepper corns and dry chilly together, and add to the batter, add hing powder, mix well. Heat a pan, pour the batter, spread it over the pan, cook both sides well, then serve it with coconut chutney.
