raw rice-1 cup

urad dal-1 cup

fenugreek-1 tsp

cooked rice-1/2 cup

water

salt

for tomato chutney

onion-1

green chilly-2

tomato-3

kashmiri chilly powder-1 tsp

chilly powder-1 tsp

Preparation

Take rice in a bowl, wash it for 2-3 times, then add water and keep aside. Take urad dal and fenugreek together in another bowl, wash well then pour water. Soak both 4hrs. Then grind it with cooked rice and required water and make smooth batter, rest the batter for 10 hrs, then add salt, mix well and make soft idli.

For tomato chutney,heat oil in a pan, add onion and salt, saute it well, then add tomato and green chilly, saute it until it become soft, then add masala powders, after mixing well turn off flame and let it cool, then grind it into fine paste, finally temper it with mustard,dry chilly and curry leaves.

for coconut chutney, grind coconut with shallots, salt and green chilly, then temper it with mustard, dry chilly and curry leaves.
