White Rice/ Idli rice: 1 cup

Urad Dal ( Uzhunn) :1/4 cup

Salt:1/4 tspn

Baking Soda:1/4 tspn

Red Food colour ( optnl)

Sugar:1 cup

Lemon juice:1 tspn

Oil ( sunflower or palm oil)


soak rice and urad dal for 3-4 hrs, then grind it into fine paste, add salt,and baking soda, combine all well, next add food color, mix it to the batter. For sugar syrup, melt sugar in a sauce pan, add lemon juice, mix well then keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, pour the batter with a spoon, make small candies, fry it well, after frying all dip the candies in sugar syrup for 1 hour.
