Jackfruit payasam

Chakka / Jackfruit – 500 gm

Jaggery – 300 – 450 gm as needed


Second extract of coconut milk – 1 1/2 – 2 cups

First extract of coconut milk – 3/4 cup

Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp

Ghee – 2 tbsp

Cashew nuts- 2 tbsp

Raisins – 1 tbsp


Cut jackfruit into small pieces, then transfer to mixie jar and grind well. Melt jaggerry with 1/2 cup of water. Heat a pan , add grinded jackfruit, add ghee and mix well, add water and stir well, allow it to boil, add jaggerry after the jackfruit become thick, mix well and boil 5-6 minutes, now add second coconut milk, cook again another 5 minutes, next add thick coconut milk, and cardamom, now turn off flame, add roasted raisins and cashews.
